We are a group of Shanghai local guides who are into the history and the beauty of the city, and we host private tours in the day time.
  • What fascinating stories will we uncover during the tour?
Customs House Bell Tower Its 1927 bell (modeled after London’s Big Ben) chimed every 15 minutes—but locals boycotted it as a symbol of British imperialism. HSBC Building (No. 12 Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu) Built in 1923, its lion statues symbolize British power—but their eyes were said to “guard” hidden gold reserves. No. 18 Bund Building (No. 18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu) This 1920s art deco gem was Shanghai’s first “skyscraper” (13 stories) and hosted the city’s first elevator—a source of wonder for locals. Waibaidu Bridge (Garden Bridge) In 1949, Communist soldiers crossed this bridge singing The East Is Red, marking the end of colonial rule.
