Who guides you
We do not put a name and a photograph here, because the guide on your day is booked around your dates rather than chosen from a page. What we will tell you is what holds for whoever comes.
English, and a route they have walked
Every guide on a private day works in English and has walked the route before guiding it. Nobody is sent out to read a place for the first time in front of a guest.
You are told who, before you pay the balance
The written confirmation names your guide and gives you a way to reach them. If we have to change who comes — illness, or a day that overruns — we tell you rather than letting you find out at the meeting point.
The same guide across a multi-day trip
Where you want continuity, one guide stays with you for the whole trip rather than handing you on each morning. Say so when you enquire and we plan the days around one person's availability.
Paid by us, not by where they take you
Guides are paid for the day. They earn nothing from a shop, a restaurant or a factory, which is why there is no reason for any of those to appear in a day you did not ask for.
Our private days are guided in English and Chinese. If you would rather speak to the guide before you book, ask when you enquire and we will arrange it.
How we work
- No shopping stops. We take no commission from a shop, a restaurant or a factory. What we quote is what we earn, which is why we have no reason to drive you anywhere you did not ask to go.
- One price, in writing. We quote a total for your party before you commit. A 30% deposit confirms a private date and the balance is paid on the day. Cancel more than 48 hours ahead and the deposit comes back in full — the booking terms set out the rest.
- We say what we cannot do. We are not a licensed travel agency, so we do not sell flights, hotels or packaged tours. We provide guiding, interpretation and private ground transport, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise.
